IrCQNet (ICQ IRC Services) is ICQ's IRC Network.

History

IrCQNet began in 1998, in the same year ICQ LLC was acquired by AOL. It is a small network in comparison, at the same time it is a heavily moderated network, especially when it comes to use of ICQ run channels.

Initially IrCQ-Net begun by using hybrid IRCd and no services. This caused many issues in the form of channel takeovers and proved difficult to moderate. They then decided to switch to Unreal IRCd and use ircservices which helped deal with a lot of the issues.

The terms of services for this network can be found on their website.

IRC Operators

IrCQNet has strict policies on the IRC Operators. There is a system of hierarchy on IrCQNet. There are System Administrators, Network Administrators, IRC Operators, Channel Ops, Helpers and then the regular users. The Channel Ops and Helpers are volunteers who are hired by the IRC Operators at their discretion, providing that the user meets the criteria of being over 18, good knowledge of IRC and successfully passes the training.

The main help room for IrCQNet is #OPHelp where they handle help with IrCQNet and complaints about public ICQ operated rooms rooms such as disturbances.
